Student Engagement

The COVID-19 pandemic has created a lack of community for all of us. For undergraduate students, this is a crucial time to develop friendships, gain interpersonal skills, and figure out their place in the world. Students felt extremely isolated. I wanted my online general education music class to foster community and provide an outlet for my students. My music classes provide many opportunities for students to engage with their peers and step outside their comfort zones. A few examples would be our Introductory FlipGrid, Written Music assignment (and survey), Video Summary, and Discussion Boards.
